There are quite a few issues that need reform at Evergreen Valley High School, San Jose, California. Academic programs are diverse but many times lack depth and do not challenge students to their fullest potential, especially in advanced courses. Extracurricular activities are available yet poorly organized and fail to involve students much. The overall school facilities are outdated and need modernization. The communication with the parents is irregular, and apparently, there is no accommodation for special needs students. While the staff members are very friendly, these major issues trump the few redeeming qualities of the school.
Overall, the school is well-structured and organized. The staff and teachers are helpful in every way possible. They provide resources and support to students, helping them in their next discovery in college. Additionally, the buildings offer enough resources to sustain most individuals in the school. Clubs and extracurriculars provide many opportunities for students as well.
Evergreen Valley High School has a fun atmosphere where lots of students are able to interact with each other and make friends. Mostly everyone is inclusive and are respectful to one another. I believe that the academics at EVHS are well taught, however I would like to see more education about respecting cultures and ethnicities. This could be done by using the correct terms/ names for specific holidays, for example, Lunar New Year is not just Chinese New Year as there are many other ethnicities that also celebrate the Lunar New Year not just the Chinese New Year.
